Sawt al-Quds, a radio station associated with the Palestinian Islamic Jihad,
broadcasted a sermon praising the London terrorist attacks

Sawt al-Quds is a radio station associated with the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, broadcasting from Gaza City. The station's broadcasts, radical Islamic in nature, touch upon intra-Palestinian issues but also include anti-Israeli incitement.

On July 9, 00:30, the station broadcasted a sermon containing incitement against Israel and the Palestinian Authority, as well as praise for Bin Laden and the terrorist attacks in the UK . The main points of the sermon:

The expected Israeli withdrawal from Gaza is not a victory for the Palestinians since it does not include Jerusalem. In this context, the sermonizer claims that the Jews declared 2005 as the year the Temple will be built…

The Palestinian Authority bears the responsibility for the spread of crime since it was the Palestinian Authority that opened the casino in Jericho in 1996. The sermonizer also spoke of the damage incurred by Gaza Strip residents (insinuating, possibly, to the Palestinian Authority) as a result of poisoned meat and expired food products finding their way to the stores.

The sermonizer positively noted the “blessed deeds” that recently occurred in Iraq and the UK , particularly in light of the jubilation of UK residents over the victory of hosting the 2012 Olympic Games. “The sirens of joy were heard in Britain and Osama Bin Laden once again redrew the map, thus letting it be known that the voice of the oppressed will be heard everywhere”, stated the sermonizer.

Radio Sawt al-Quds mentioned neither the sermonizer's name nor the name of the mosque where the sermon had been given. It should be noted that the mosques in the Palestinian Authority administered territories and the local media are used as sources of incitement by the terrorist organizations, with no effective control on the part of the Palestinian Authority. 1

Radio Sawt al-Quds has been broadcasting from the Gaza Strip for several months and providing a stage for terrorist activists to issue strong threats against Israel . The incorporation of blatant anti-UK incitement, as part of the anti-Israeli and anti-American incitement, is not a new phenomenon as well, even though the Palestinian Authority in the age of Abu Mazen is working towards lowering the level of incitement in the Palestinian official media. 2

The Palestinian Islamic Jihad is a Palestinian terrorist organization whose radical Islamic ideology combines religious fanaticism with nationalist radicalism. The organization greatly depends upon outside elements: Syria allows the Palestinian Islamic Jihad headquarters to operate on its territory and guide terrorist activity in the Palestinian Authority administered territories, while Iran , the organization's primary benefactor, provides it with financial aid and uses it as leverage for escalating terrorism in the Palestinian Authority administered territories. 3 The organization represents an ideology hostile to the US and the UK and their values. 4

See the Information Bulletin titled “Palestinian television, supervised by the Palestinian Authority, broadcast an anti-Semitic sermon. It was delivered by Sheikh Ibrahim Mudeiras, a symbol of Palestinian incitement” (May 2005). Included in the sermon was also venomous incitement against the UK . A week later, the Palestinian Authority stopped broadcasting the sermons of Ibrahim Mudeiras.
3 The Palestinian Islamic Jihad is now perceived as an organization attempting to derail the lull in the fighting. The suicide bombing at the Hasharon Mall in Netanya (July 12, 2005) is the most recent example of the organization's activity.
